Why I Write

            I write poetry
            for me,
            but not just for me.
            It's public
            for a
            reason.

            If I keep writing
            poetry,
            maybe I'll 
            forget
            that I want
            to cry.

            I often
            feel
            like I'm 
            not
            doing
            enough.
            I know
            I'm not
            the only 
            one.

            Sometimes I
            envy
            those who can
            simply
            enjoy
            a moment.
            But moments
            like those
            were made
            for writing.

            Put yourself out there,
            or forever be bound by
            shades of self-loathing.

            We are becoming
            with every word that tumbles
            unkempt, unbidden.

            This world, beautiful,
            I will share with everything 
            that lives, loves, breathes.
